Titanium scrap and turnings

Giuliani Metalli has been trading not only in a wide range of stainless steel, but also in commercially pure titanium scrap and turnings as well as titanium alloys for many years.

Titanium alloys are mainly used in the aircraft, aerospace and maritime industry thanks to their resistance to corrosion, light weight and capacity to withstand extreme temperatures.

Titanium is characterised by low density, high resistance (as a matter of fact, it is as resistant as steel and twice as resistant as aluminium), low elasticity and low thermal expansion, excellent resistance to corrosion, an extremely short radioactive half-life (which means that it is a material of primary importance for use in nuclear systems). Moreover, titanium is immune to the corrosive attack of salt water or marine environments and it is therefore differently used in the maritime industry; it also exhibits high resistance to a wide range of alkali acids, natural waters and industrial chemical products; in the end, it provides has high resistance to erosive attacks.

All these features shall ensure that titanium scrap and turnings are also much sought after materials on the market of secondary raw materials.

Commercially pure titanium is classified in 5 grades, i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7 whereas the lion’s share of titanium alloys comes from titanium grade 5 (Ti 6Al-4V), which alone accounts for abt. 50% of the world market of titanium alloys. For more details on titanium alloys please see our Common Alloy Book.

Giuliani Metalli is trading in titanium and titanium CP alloys on the main consumer markets, in contact with the main suppliers of material for the aircraft and medical industry.
